At CitySalt it is our heart that your kids be an integral part of the whole church. Not a side ministry. Sunday services and community events are thought through with kiddos in mind as we consider, how together as a church, to raise our children in the ways of Jesus.

Your kids begin service with you as a family in the main service to worship alongside adults then kids 5th grade and younger jump over to the kids’ ministry space for some special time for them to have a child-centered learning experience in a place that is their own. During this time your kids will have a game time, an exploration activity, a lesson rooted in the scriptures, and enjoy a snack. Not to mention free play time to connect with one another and build their own community.

Vision and Core Values

CitySalt Kids’ Ministry seeks to come alongside kids and families in our community in support of their faith journey. As we do that, we prayerfully hope that kids will:

DEVELOP AN AWARENESS OF GOD AND AWE OF LIFE

We want all kids to be in awe of Creator, creation and their place in it all.

UNDERSTAND BIBLICAL STORIES AS CONTEXTS FOR KNOWING AND TRUSTING GOD

We want all kids to know about God’s interactions with Israel and the world as told in the Bible and to learn what these interactions tell us about God.

HAVE A GROWING SENSE OF BELONGING

We want all kids to see themselves as created by God with great intentionality and care for a purpose larger than themselves.

CULTIVATE SPIRIT-LED IMAGINATION

We want all kids to imagine a different world, with the help of the Holy Spirit, and to take actions consistent with that imagination.

Curriculum

CitySalt Kids use Storyline. Storyline is a K-5 curriculum designed for use in a variety of church-based Christian education programs. The overarching goal of the curriculum is to help all kids find their place in God’s story. We want to help every child, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, age or ability to see themselves as uniquely and wonderfully created in God’s image for a purpose larger than themselves. Lessons are designed to nurture humility toward and mutual respect for the community of creation as children see how their own story and wellbeing is connected to the stories and wellbeing of many others. Through learning about Jesus as healer and reconciler in a safe and loving environment, we trust that children will be led by the Holy Spirit into meaningful actions oriented toward justice and shalom in their communities.

Interested in Volunteering?

One key aspect of CitySalt Kids is YOU! It takes a village; are you interested in being a part of the village for CitySalt Kids? Because we work with children - a particularly vulnerable group of humans, there is a process that includes an application, reference and background check and an interview. We’d love to talk to you and walk you through the process! Click the button below to get in touch with CitySalt staff to start the process.
